Dr. Max Cadet

Early Life

Dr. Max Cadet was a dental surgeon born on April 6, 1917 in Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite, Haiti. At the age of 23, he became the youngest graduate of Faculté d’Odontologie de l’Université d’État d’Haïti, the School of Dentistry.

Dr. Cadet committed his life’s work to dentistry in Haiti. He realized that there was too much emphasis on emergency dental care and not enough on prevention. In 1960 he created Fondation Pédodontique (Pedodontic Foundation) to implement a 6-year prevention project for children. Thus he became a foremost advocate for oral and dental preventive care.

Although Dr. Cadet graduated from Faculté de Droit, Haiti’s School of Law, and was also a member of the Bar in Port-au-Prince, dentistry remained his passion.

After Dr. Cadet’s untimely death on June 28, 1992, his widow, Thérèse Déjour Cadet, and their ten children established Fondation Max CADET to honor him and continue his lifelong work.

In 2017 we memorialized the 100th Anniversary of Dr. Cadet‘s birth and we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Fondation Max CADET.
